The age old debate. Personally, I used to be more of a pancakes girl, but now I definitely lean towards waffles.
Hear me out.
While pancakes are a classic, waffles are just more versatile. Not to mention lighter. I mean, one, maybe two, pancakes and I'm stuffed to the brim. But waffles - keep 'em comin'!
Yes, you can fill your pancakes with blueberries, bananas. But waffles can go from breakfast, to brunch, to dinner without a fuss.
Take for instance the cinnamon roll waffle. Perfect for breakfast, covered in icing and served with eggs. Perhaps you want a more savory option for brunch. Well, pancakes are out, but no fear, the cheddar bacon waffle can come to the rescue. Still a perfect forefront for eggs, fruit, and other brunch sides, and now your non sweet tooth guests are satisfied.
Now dinner. I don't disagree that breakfast for dinner is a wonderful thing. But most of the time I need my dinners to consist of savory and vegetables. So in comes the waffle as a way to still have all that but change it up a little. If you want a main dish, then savory southwestern waffles are a hit. If you're looking for a side then cheesy potato waffles are great. Maybe you want a sandwich - the chicken and waffle sandwich is a great classic or a grilled veggie waffle sandwich spices it up a bit.
I'm not here to sway you. Or maybe I am. But as you can see, waffles clearly win.
